Tayshia Time

As long-time fan of The Bachelorette (and previous recaper), I’ve taken it upon myself to recap Tayshia Adam's season. So here it is: my Rose Recap of Season 16 Episode 5.

Night "one" starts and I’ve always thought that Tayshia is beautiful, but her first look confirms that The Bachelor needs to get a better stylist because this look was maybe my least favorite night one dress I've ever seen. Besides that atrocity, Tayshia's expected just to jump in and meet all the guys at once. Chris Harrison should have just hosed down the driveway and told the guys that they would have to recreate their limo entrances. It's what Tayshia deserves and it's what the audience deserves.

Tayshia manages to have conversations with some of the boys and even seems to have some connection with boys that Clare didn't, namely Ivan, Brendan, and Zac. Chris comes in and tells Tayshia that there are more guys and Tayshia gets the limo entrances she deserves, even though there are only four of them. One of the new guys, Spencer, gives me bad vibes because of his assertiveness, but he catches Tayshia's attention. While she talks to the rest of the guys and it's cute and flirty, but she still gives her first impression rose to Spencer. Gross in my opinion but it's not MY first impression rose so it doesn't really matter.

Tayshia cancels the rose ceremony, which is a good idea, since she already has a smaller group of guys, and night one ends up lasting just over a half-hour, which is ideal for me if I'm being honest.

We get a quick Clare and Dale Tell-All. It was nice to hear more from Dale instead of just hearing more about Dale. My two cents is that that they didn't talk before this season, and if you've never gotten a little crush on someone over social media, I hate to inform you that we're different people.

I like Clare and I'm glad that she found love. I'm also a fan of Tayshia and ready for her to find love. Those things are not mutually exclusive because I think that everyone who wants to find love deserves to find love so if two women get to find love this season, the more the merrier (marry-er).

"Here’s to a Second Shot at Love"

  • Riley

  • Zac

  • Jordan’

  • Noah

  • Peter

  • Kenny

  • Jay

  • Eazy

  • Spencer

This date is a pool party that quickly turns into a game of pool basketball. A little bit of blood is spilled and the winning team gets to go to the barbeque and open bar, for some reason we don’t get any footage of the barbeque, and the next time we see Tayshia, it's with both teams at the after-party (my personal theory is that production didn't trust Blake to not show up even if he wasn't invited so they just said he could come to prevent that drama).

Now that Clare is gone, there's no longer a villain so the boys start a little drama with Spencer. One grown man refers to Spencer as"lunch meat! fried bologna!" Eazy gets the group date rose even though Zac deserves it but I guess this isn’t about me falling in love.

Jason sends himself home because he hasn’t recovered from his one session of couples therapy with Clare. I didn’t really like Jason but it feels like he somehow reached self-actualization and had the emotional maturity to make the right decision. But of course, this gets into Tayshia’s head and she starts doubting all the guys. I think if Tayshia watches Clare’s season, it should alleviate some anxiety because it’s clear these guys didn’t have a chance to develop feelings for Clare and Jason was an outlier.

"Brendan, Let’s Start the Journey to Fall in Love"

Tayshia takes Brendan on a horse riding date and they wear cowboy hats so obviously I’m jealous; this is my dream date. Chris Harrison is surprisingly funny on this date. He keeps on popping around every corner with another snack just as Brendan is getting ready to kiss her and it has a more comedic tone than this show is normally allowed to have.

Tayshia and Brendan end up in the THIRD pool featured in this episode, and they end up having their first kiss. During the dinner portion of their date, they laugh together and it’s pure dopamine for me. Brendan opens up that he was married to his high school sweetheart and then got divorced, and Tayshia has a similar story and it’s truly incredible how Brendan did not have any connection with Clare but he’s such a strong contender with Tayshia. No surprise, he gets the rose. Fireworks go off so it really feels like an episode of the Bachelorette.

I'm spoiler-free for Tayshia so we get to go through this experience together. See you next week for more Tayshia and more romance, baby!

xoxo,

Cyber Claire
