A Little Less Talk a Lot More Tayshia

As long-time fan of The Bachelorette (and previous recaper), I’ve taken it upon myself to recap Tayshia Adam's season. So here it is: my Rose Recap of Season 16 Episode 6.

This episode has maybe the weirdest pacing of any episode we've seen so far; the date card gets read off-camera and instead in one of the guy's confessions he says that:

  • Montel

  • Demar

  • Ivan

  • Chasen

  • Joe

  • Bennet

  • Ed

  • Ben

are going on the group date, which is the first date of this episode but the final date from last week. I'm telling you the pacing and editing in this episode are off.

The date is a little competition hosted by Bachelor Alum/Royalty Jared and Ashley. They remind us that Tayshia's looking for a Grown Man, which is interesting because the two boys we've seen her date within Bachelor Nation are Colton and John Paul Jones and they both seem more boyish to me, but maybe it's time for some change.

If you're in the market for finding a Grown Man, according to this date all he needs to do is basic math, tug of war, and make breakfast in bed. Except Bennet is exceptionally bad at math (despite being a Harvard grad), sits out tug of war, but the man wore a robe to deliver his breakfast to Tayshia, and that ends up being enough to secure the win. Ladies, you heard it here first: if your man can't do math it doesn't matter as long as he brings you breakfast in bed.

As an aside, Ed gets an award for being the biggest man-baby, and as a reward? punishment? consequence? he has to carry around one of those lifelike babies you'd have to take care of in your high school child development class.

Bennett gets a brief villain edit, and I will be honest, I thought it was a misstep to wear the robe to the after-party and spend the rest of the night talking to the rest of the guys about what it takes to be a real man. However, his run as villain is short-lived. Chasen gets into the dumbest drama and if my life depended on it, I could not tell you what it was about. Please do not ask me to catch you up on it, all I know is that Chasen cannot stop saying that he's Wolverine and that Tayshia is a "smoke show."

Ben gets some time to shine, which is so interesting to me because I could not remember ever seeing him before tonight but it looks like he might end up being a major player this season. Ivan gets the group date rose, which I didn't see coming but if we're being honest, Tayshia is too mature for this and if she sent home half the guys on this date, no one would blame her.

There’s a rose ceremony in the middle of this episode which threw me for a loop, but nothing this season has followed a normal schedule.

Eazy, Brenden, and Ivan already have roses.

The remaining roses go to:

  • Zach

  • Riley

  • Kenny

  • Ben

  • Demar

  • Bennett

  • Spencer

  • Jordan

  • Noah

  • Joe

  • Blake

  • Ed

  • Chasen

We take a moment and say out goodbyes to:

  • Jay

  • Chris? AJ? (no clue who you are, I'm sorry guy)

  • Montel

Straight from the Rose Ceremony, we are thrown into a group date.

"I’m Looking for My Perfect Match"

  • Eazy

  • Brenden

  • Joe

  • Jordan

  • Spencer

  • Ben

  • Ed

  • Chasen

One of the guys says that he thinks this date will be puzzling and I want to know who that was, he can slide into my dms. Instead, it’s a wrestling date. I’m not into it. But I am into Wells Adam being here to host the date.

It's a pretty self-explanatory concept; the guys learn some basic wrestling moves and go head to head and the winner of "Bachelor Wrestlemania" gets extra time with Tayshia. There are other guys on this date but as much as every other episode was only about Clare and Dale, this episode is only about Ed and Chasen.

To not a single person's surprise, Ed and Chasen are supposed to go head to head, but Ed tells Chris Harrison that he actually has shoulder problems and can't get into the ring. Noah decides to jump the fence to wrestle Chasen, but in the end, it doesn’t really matter. Chasen wins the date, but I’m not even sure he got extra time with her since that footage didn't make it into the episode.

Noah gets invited to the after-party because jumping fences is a healthy start to a relationship. But Tayshia does us all a favor by having Noah shave his mustache, which I'm trying to figure out my feelings on because it was an ugly mustache, but I make some questionable beauty choices and I would not respond positively to a significant other asking me to change. So points to Noah for 1. being mature and 2. looking like a whole different person without the 'stache.

Ben doesn't take initiative to talk to Tayshia amongst the Noah fiasco and it's incredible that as soon as I choose to like a boy he disappoints me. Noah gets the group date rose, so I guess that’s fine. Kinda weird getting a group date rose from a date that you weren’t supposed to be on.

Tune in next week to see which boy that you've never seen before suddenly becomes a front runner!

xoxo,

Cyber Claire
