Cleveland, Chase, and Second Chances

As long-time fan of The Bachelor (and previous recaper), I’ve taken it upon myself to recap Peter Weber’s season. So here it is: my Rose Recap of Season 24 Episode 4.

This week the blog has a special guest: somehow I conned my brother, James, into watching The Bachelor with me and he provided some commentary which will be featured here.

The episode starts with Chris Harrison string the pot before telling everyone that they’re going to Cleveland, Ohio. The girls don't even pretend to be happy about going to Cleveland which if there's one thing I've noticed this season, it's that the girls are pretty much over this whole process, and by the end of the episode, I'm starting to think that they're over Peter too.

"Victoria F., today our love soars to new heights”- The One on One

This date starts off with Peter flying a plane, for literally no reason, to an amusement park where we find out that Victoria F. is scared of heights. So this date is already off to a rough start. Eventually it starts raining and Peter takes Victoria to a private concert.

James: it isn’t really a private concert; there are other people who payed to be there so it’s private in the way that all concerts are private.

Victoria had the misfortune of dating d-list celebrity Chase Rice, so naturally, he's the one performing at the concert. Victoria doesn't want to tell Peter and it becomes a bigger deal than it needed to be. If Victoria had communicated with Peter that Chase was her ex, I guarantee Peter "I Respect Women" Weber would have gone out of his way to make it less uncomfortable, if not just ditching the concert altogether. Victoria ends up telling Peter about dating Chase during the night portion of the date, she cries, it ends up not being an issue at all and Victoria gets the rose.

"Lets Tackle Love Together"-The Group Date

The girls head to the Brown's stadium and it's your typical football date: including some professional football players, a scrimmage game, and someone sitting on the sidelines getting some extra time with the lead.

Even though the premise of the game was that the winning team would get extra time on the date, both teams tied and everyone got to go on to cocktail hour at the aquarium (which is maybe my dream date).

Of course there's some drama about who steals Peter first, especially from the team who almost won, but it soon dissipates when Alayha walks in after being sent home last week. Peter resumes his investigation from last week to find out who is telling the truth about Alayah.

James: we’re going to need a Cold Case Files recreation to see what really happened; actors that look somewhat like them, over the top costumes, you know the deal.

Alayah gets the group date rose and invited back to the house by Peter.

Kelsey gets the One on One.

After a weird conversation with Peter about Alayah, Kelsey and Peter walk around Cleveland and look, I'm no relationship expert, but the chemistry is not there.

During the night portion Kelsey talks about her trauma that stems from her parent's divorce. James and I talk about Peter's trauma from wearing the turtle neck. (Please let the record reflect that James doesn't really think that the turtleneck is bad he in fact says that, “it honestly is a look.”)

Kelsey gets the rose and the date ends with fire works

The rest of the episode is all of just the girls being mad at Alayah and mad at Peter and I’ve never seen girls willing to say anything about their Bachelor that was negative so seeing girls tell Peter to his face that they're tired of his stunts is absolutely wild. The episode is to be continued, and I'm holding out to see if any girls send themselves home. James is hopeful that the rose ceremony will take place in a plane and that if a girl doesn't get a rose, she has to skydive out of the the plane.
